Personal Review Comments

Design

General Appearance - The physical appearance of the gloves are not flashy, but it definitely looks like a nice quality product.

Outer Shell - The outer shell is made with genuine leather. Not only does this make the GEL MMA gloves look great, it also provides fantastic durability.

Pre-curved Padding - The GEL foam padding’s thickness is greater than 2 inches. Its padding is one of the thicker options available in the hybrid MMA glove category. GEL gloves have pre-curved padding. Its rounded curvature is a great feature because it helps prevent accidental eye pokes and naturally assists you in forming a fist for striking. Some MMA gloves have paddings that are relatively flat or are not pre-curved, which provides a resistance that causes the user to extend their fingers when they relax their hands, especially when the gloves are not thoroughly broken in.

Securing the Wrist - The gloves utilize a standard elastic band to secure itself to your wrist. The wrist straps have a hook and loop design for tightening and fastening the gloves. They are also long enough to wrap around your wrist twice. The hook and loop attaches at two regions, as shown in the image below.

Open Palm Design - Title GEL MMA gloves are one of the most minimalistic options available because of its simple finger holds and open palm design. The finger holds are composed of single strips of leather stitched onto the gloves. GEL’s open palm design provides great breathability for your hands.

Thumb Protection - A thin padding is used to protect your thumb. A strip of leather secures the thumb to this piece of padding. The thumb padding does not run the entire length of my thumb. I personally find this thumb padding to be wider than necessary, which hinders my grappling in particular scenarios.

Quality and Durability

Wear and Tear - For the most part, the quality construction of the Title MMA glove is holding up well. The outer shell’s leather has proven to be a tough material that has not shown signs of wear and tear. However, minor scuffs are visible on the surface that makes contact with the back of my hand. The white edges of my gloves have already started breaking down as well. Of course, the damages mentioned do not actually have an impact on my performance and only affects the gloves’ aesthetics.

Stitching - The stitching is well done and does not interfere or cause abrasion with my hand.

Wrist Straps - The hook and loop portion of the wrist strap is still sticky and functioning fine.

Comfort

I do not use wrist wraps when I spar with the Title MMA gloves. During the striking portion of MMA, the padding and its curvature feels fantastic on my fist. On the other hand, I am not a fan of the leather finger grips. They can be uncomfortable at times, especially after long training sessions. The ability to wrap the wrist strap twice around my wrist makes it feels nice and secure.

In various grappling scenarios, this particular hybrid style gloves could be obtrusive at times. Obtaining the s-grips where your fingers link together is fine, but the design and thickness of the padding does make it feel clumsy and awkward when quickly trying to secure the gable grip. This is less troublesome with the traditional MMA gloves.

Protection

The Title GEL MMA gloves are heavier than the standard ones used in competitions due to the extra paddings provided. Its design allows the user to utilize it in sparring sessions and for hitting the mitts and heavy bag.

Padding Firmness and Thickness - The padding feels like it is made out of medium density foam. In addition to that, the padding’s thickness is equivalent to many boxing training gloves and is twice as thick as the traditional MMA gloves I have come across. Not only does it provide solid protection for your hands, your teammates will also appreciate your use of it.

Wrist Padding - Wrist padding for this MMA glove is relatively thin. Fortunately, the ability to wrap the wrist strap around your wrist twice gives it more cushion against impacts.

Thumb Protection - Plenty of MMA gloves are created without having a padding for the thumb. It may not be necessary, but some individuals do enjoy the extra bit of protection.
